A long endurance polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell promises to extend the range of small Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) as much as 300%. The 4.4 lb (2 kg) unit operates at up to 22,000 ft (6,700 m) and stores 900 watt-hours of electric power. The power pack should soar past advanced lithium batteries in the 5-10 kg class of surveillance and reconnaissance UAS.
